More than 50 Pan American referees train in Rio de Janeiro

***The Panamerican Taekwondo activities kicked off in Brazil with the presence of Olympic IRs.

PATU Press 19.09.2023. More than 50 judges from various countries of the continent began a two-day training this September 19 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as part of the Pan American Kyorugui and Poomsae 2023 Referee Seminar.

This activity, promoted and organized by the Pan American Taekwondo Union and the Brazilian Taekwondo Confederation, will last until September 20 and will be held at the Marriot Hotel in the Rio de Janeiro metropolis.

"For us as a working team of the Pan American Taekwondo Union, on behalf of our president, LAE. Juan Manuel Lopez Delgado, it is a real privilege to be able to deepen the knowledge and training of you, the new generation of referees of the continent." In his opening speech, IR Dennis Berdugo (NCA), Director of the PATU Sports Commission, was accompanied by former Brazilian team athlete and current Technical Director of the CBTKD, Henrique Precioso.

"We are here to provide you with the greatest amount of knowledge during these two days of the Seminar and you have the experience of Olympic Referees and with multiple participations in events of the World Taekwondo world circuit. The idea is to clarify as many doubts as possible and to contribute permanently to your academic and professional improvement", reiterated Axel Sanchez, PATU Referee Chairman, Olympic judge in Tokyo 2020, who along with IR Araceli Ornelas (MEX), serve as keynote speakers for this educational activity of the PATU Refereeing Commission.

The first presentation of the day was given by IR Araceli Ornelas (MEX) and focused on a detailed review of the Kyorgui Regulations.

This activity marks the beginning of the events in Brazil, venue of the President's Cup Pan - America G2 2023, event that will be held for the first time in a South American country, from September 21 to 24 at the Arena Carioca 1 in Rio de Janeiro, as a key event in the preparation of the countries of the area before the Pan American Games Santiago 2023, to be held in October (21-24).
