The Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU) announces an exciting and innovative step in the evolution of the sport by organizing the first Pan American Taekwondo Championship in Virtual Reality. This event, which will take place in April of the next year in Queretaro, Mexico, marks a before and after in sports competitions by moving Taekwondo to an immersive digital environment. PATU follows in the footsteps of World Taekwondo, which will hold the first World Taekwondo Championships in Virtual Reality in Singapore on November 16-17, reflecting the growing global interest in this type of experience.

The adoption of virtual reality in Taekwondo is not only a technological innovation, but also a new way to train and compete without the traditional physical limitations. This championship will allow athletes from all over the continent to compete in a digital environment, using state-of-the-art technology that simulates fights in an immersive and highly realistic way.

PATU President Juan Manuel López was enthusiastic about the event. “With this virtual reality championship, we are taking Taekwondo to a whole new level. Our organization remains at the forefront of global trends, preparing for the future of sports competitions. Virtual reality offers an experience that is already being recognized by the International Olympic Committee, and we are proud to be the first to implement it at the Pan American level.

The conjunction of technology, learning and tradition in this event reflects PATU's commitment to the development of Taekwondo in the Americas.

By organizing this innovative championship, PATU continues to lead the implementation of emerging technologies in sport, allowing Pan American athletes to experience new forms of competition and prepare for the challenges of the future.
