The Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU) is pleased to announce a series of major events to be held in Querétaro, Mexico, from March 31 to April 6, 2025. This set of competitions promises to bring together the best talent from the continent and the world, offering unique opportunities for athletes and their federations.

The president of the Pan American Taekwondo Union, Juan Manuel Lopez, said: “These events in Queretaro represent a benchmark for Pan American taekwondo. We are not only strengthening the competitive level, but also providing our athletes with multiple opportunities to grow, develop their skills and stand out on the international stage. We invite all federations to take advantage of this historic moment for our future generations of taekwondo players.”

Wild Cards for the Best

One of the highlights is the reward for the winners of each kyorugi and poomsae division of the final U-22 qualifying event for the Asuncion 2025 Pan American Junior Games. These champions will get a wild card that will grant them direct access to the G-4 Pan American Championships in each specific division. In addition, they will also secure their participation in the newly integrated Nations Cup, which this year will be of G-1 category, but is projected as a higher status event in the coming years.

It is important to emphasize that the Nations Cup is intended exclusively for national teams and those athletes who obtain the wild card, consolidating itself as an elite tournament on the international circuit.

Under-22 Final Event:A Global Opportunity and open to all eligible competitors.

Within the Under-22 division, the U22 qualifier will be open to all, allowing the participation of any interested athlete, regardless of nationality. This tournament represents a unique opportunity to get exposure and compete at the highest level against athletes from different parts of the Pan American area.

G-1 World Ranking for poomsae

Another great novelty is the integration of the Pan American Poomsae G-1 WT Open, which will include all the divisions that have world ranking and the Kids Poomsae division. This offers an unique occasion for athletes looking to score valuable points on their way to the top of the world poomsae. This aspect makes the events in Queretaro a must for those who aspire to consolidate their position in the world ranking of the WT and the Pan American region.

Pan American Cadet and Junior Championships 2025.

In parallel, the Pan American Cadet and Junior Championships will be held, where the national teams will compete together with the athletes who obtained wild cards in open events previously held in Canada Open G2 and US Open G2. In addition, cadets and juniors will be able to participate in the Pan American Cadet and Junior Championships 2025 Open, which will be open to all interested competitors, regardless of their origin, nor the number of participants per country, with the clear intention of taking advantage of a single investment of the same trip, which allows an important exposure in several events during a weekend in order to participate in the next WT World Championships.

A Scenario of Multiple Advantages

Queretaro is positioned as a strategic destination for athletes and national federations. The benefits of attending these events are innumerable, among them:

  1. 1. Diverse Competitions in a Single Venue: An athlete could participate in different events.

2. Build-up of Experience: Athletes could experience multiple high-level events in a single venue, optimizing resources and maximizing the competitive experience.

3. World Ranking Points: The possibility of scoring crucial points in the Pan American Open G-1 poomsae, essential for those seeking to move up in the world rankings.
