PATU Press 22.09.2023.- Poomsae stars of America are already in Amazonian territory to battle for supremacy in the first President's Cup to be held in South America: Rio de Janeiro 2023, where 20 points will be distributed to the World Taekwondo ranking and it will also be P8 to the continental ranking for cadets and juniors.

In the men's U30 recognized poomsae category, the number three in the WT ranking and recently crowned champion in Central American and Caribbean San Salvador 2023, Elian Ortega (NCA), will measure his technical level against other great rivals in the area, among them the multi medalist and world champion, William Arroyo (MEX), as well as the Peruvian Hugo del Castillo and the local Brazilian Alex Arruda, all of them top 10 in the world.

Arroyo will also start for Mexico in his favorite event, the O17 Men's Freestyle, where he is a strong candidate for the podium.

The Women's Freestyle O17 promises great emotions with the clashes between four of the great idols of Latin poomsae: Alejandra Higueros (GUA), Cecilia Lee (MEX) and Colombia's Karen Suache.

A total of 28 competitors make up the preliminary list of the U30 women's recognized poomsae category, a list led by Arelis Medina of Puerto Rico, fourth in the WT ranking, Alejandra Higueros (GUA), sixth in the world ranking, and Mexico's multiple world champion, Cecilia Lee.

In the Women's U40 years old recognized Poomsae category, Lina Bacelar, from Brazil, will face rivals such as Clara Favre, Malena Fernández and Micaela Cabrera (ARG), as well as Mónica García (COL), Stephanie La Cruz (PUR) and the Greek Maria Elena Emmanoliudu.

Four pairs will measure their level in the competition area in the Freestyle Pairs O17 event: Elian Ortega/Ingrid Lopez (NCA), Hugo Del Castillo/Gabriela Castillo (PER), Miguel Gomez/Valeria Tobon (COL) and Chile's Jonas Marcial and Conztansa Moya.

The Rio de Janeiro President's Cup G2 and P8 Poomsae tournament will take place at the Carioca 1 Arena of the Olympic Park on September 22, and will put at stake medals and points for the WT and PATU rankings.
