From September 18-22, the city of Lima, Peru, was the epicenter of continental Taekwondo with the realization of the Kukkiwon Pan American Cup and II Panam Series. These prestigious events brought together many participants, including athletes, coaches and delegations from all over the Americas, reaffirming the growth and passion for this martial art in the region.
The event, which featured competitions in Poomsae and Kyorugi, served as a key platform on the road to the Pan American Junior Games, to be held in Asuncion, Paraguay, next year. This series of tournaments not only promotes healthy competition, but also awards crucial points in the qualification process for future Taekwondo promises in the region.
Among the participants, a large number of coaches attended the PATU Coaches Seminar, where training and updates were given on the latest rules and training methodologies, ensuring that the athletes receive international level preparation.
Juan Manuel Lopez, president of the Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU), expressed his enthusiasm for the success achieved in this edition:
In addition, Lopez highlighted the importance of these events as decisive steps towards qualifying for the Pan American Junior Games:
“The road to Asunción 2025 is mapped out, and each competition is an opportunity for our athletes to add experience and points in their path towards qualification. The Kukkiwon Pan American Cup and the Panam Series are fundamental in this process.”
The energy and camaraderie that was experienced during the five days of competition made it clear that Taekwondo in the Americas is still booming. The city of Lima, as host, earned the recognition of the delegations for the impeccable organization and hospitality.
Pan American Taekwondo continues to set important milestones, demonstrating that the joint work between athletes, coaches and leaders is forging a path full of success towards Asuncion 2025.
